Artworks Out Of Two Or More Combined Photos
Below I am exploring combining digital camera images of 2 or more into unique artworks. Â Before combining, or at the same time, the images are processed through various digital manipulations to achieve different colors, textural, and layered outcomes. This sometimes can gel quickly but more often requires experimentation. Trying one thing after another to find your way to the image you are shooting for. Usually, you know when you have reached that place. But you often have a long trail of abandoned digital palettes in your wake.

The Perfect Latte
I was spending a lot of my time in Portland coffee shops in a quest to find the perfect Latte. Some shops were pretty good and others were decidedly mediocre. As part of this effort, I created this montage as an ode to the Perfect Latte. There were 3 images used in the creation of this artwork. One with dramatic, clouds and a dry grassy scene in the foreground. One of a stunning sunset encompassing several prominent trees. And a third of a large cup of latte on a pine table. These images were manipulated separately and together. I was using the editing software I had to explore these images and join them together in a way that was pleasing to me and seemed to make a visual statement of some sort. The bamboo on the right side was thrown in as an experiment. I think it worked out quite well. Click on the other icons to see what pictures went into this collage image.

Farm House Blues
This is another unique image of three combined photographs. One black and white and two color photos. These kinds of collages are difficult to manage if your images are of differing or low resolution. That is the case here. The black and white photo is a high-resolution image and the two color images are low-resolution images that were taken on one of the early digital cameras.

The main element from this image that was included is the windmill. You can also see some remnants of the road and its borders.

Meditating On Mauve
This time there are only 2 images. The background of the river, sky, foliage, and grass. The other picture is of a Buddhist sitting on San Francisco Street. So different filters and other software manipulations of the background were done. Â The Monk was removed from his surroundings and placed into this contemplative scene and also underwent changes using different filters and effects. I have several versions of this collage image.

This peaceful green scene provided the background for this collage image into which a Buddhist Monk could be placed

This is an earlier version of this collage image. The changes to the original images were more subtle

Here is the Monk in his original situ: 1983 San Francisco at an anti-war rally. His tennis shoes did not make it into the collage

Dust Bowl Heat Lightning
Two black and white images of lightning strikes and one color image of a landscape picture were used in making this image. Â The landscape was taken at dusk and consisted of a lone windmill surrounded by isolated brush, stubble, Â and pervasive prairie grasses. The top and bottom sections of the image have been silhouetted and the sunset and streaming sunshafts have been highlighted.

A windmill out in the middle of nowhere. The central portion of this image will be highlighted and the upper and lower portions subdued.

Lightning bolts from this image were excised and embedded into the collage image
